    About me

    About me

Graduate in Chemistry from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) with the Extraordinary End-of-Degree Award (2017), Dr. Neus Crespí has built a research and teaching career that combines academic activity with experience in industry. Her work has focused on the design of porous materials for environmental and energy applications, with attention to the principles of sustainability (SDG 6 and 9).

Her doctoral thesis, defended in 2023 with International Mention and a grade of Excellent Cum Laude (FPU), laid the foundations of her research line on the design, synthesis and functionalization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and derived materials. During this stage she carried out two research stays: one at KU Leuven (Belgium, 5 months) and another at IMDEA Energía (2 months).

After her PhD she continued as a postdoctoral researcher at IMDEA Energía and later moved into industry at Nanomate by Phi4Tech, taking part in the development of hard carbon for sodium-ion batteries within the European PERTE PP85 project, in collaboration with SEAT CUPRA.

Today, as Assistant Professor at the UIB, she has resumed her academic career. Her research focuses on the development of MOF-derived hybrid materials for water treatment, with an emphasis on the adsorption and degradation of emerging pollutants, and their integration into functional devices through techniques such as 3D printing.

Her scientific output includes 7 papers in JCR journals (mostly Q1), 3 of them as first author, gathering 155 citations in WoS and a mean percentile of 71. She has taken part in 5 competitive projects and contributed to 20 conferences. She is a member of the organizing committee of the Divulga NextGen science-outreach conferences.
